About our Journal

Founded in the hallways of the local Y, the Almagre Review/La Revista Almagre is a book-length paper publication that comes out twice a year. Dates for specific issues are determined by contributor material as they cone an issue toward completion.  All  events are announced to the Almagre community when they coalesce into a finished work.

The Almagre Review/La Revista Almagre welcomes all writers. Everyone has a story to tell and a poem or beautiful picture locked up in the heart, eager to be born. And we all have circumstances which shape our creations. We want to hear your stories and understand your situation, no matter who you are.

This is a local project. We look forward to developing a relationship with our community.  Support, in any form, is welcome. Spread the word to all our friends and family.  Purchasing a copy puts bread on the table too! Creativity necessarily follows calories…

This is the context of Joe’s story-telling:

He is a combat veteran of the Vietnam War and supports military veterans with the Sharing War Panels: Military Veterans’ Community Dialogues. Since 2005, the Dialogues have helped carry old and young veterans past the moral injury of war.  The Dialogues allow veterans to open up and talk with other veterans in the presence of spouses, families, friends and community members who are then brought into the conversation.  The Dialogues create communication and healing.  The hope is that The Almagre Review/La Revista Almagre will make this healing even greater.

A Colorado Literary Journal. The Almagre Review publishes quality fiction, short stories, novel excerpts, memoirs, essays, and intelligent writing that defines the narrative of the Rocky Mountains and the prairies.
